What is asbestos

Asbestos is a naturally occurring material of fibrous silicate minerals with strong durability, fire resistance and insulating properties. It was widely used in many building materials between 1940 and the early 1980s. It was most commonly used in homes and buildings made with fibro or AC sheeting, but there are also other construction materials that contain asbestos.
